His Name Was John Maynard Keynes

The man for the hour. I am for Keynesian economics — pump priming. Building infrastructures, yes, but also rebuilding the value system of a nation while rebuilding communities at their foundations. When people speak of the economy, they think of money and wealth only. They neglect that we also have a spiritual economy with its own debt and credit system, that was used by our founding fathers to construct the U.S. Constitution. There are many honorable ways to sustain a healthy economy without abandoning our values, common sense or conscience. If the British economist Keynes were alive today, he would advise us to keep building and turning over pyramids whenever they are knocked down. Never stop building a nation unless you intend for it to fall. Endurance and perseverance almost always lead to success. We need to keep creating new opportunities wherever doors have closed, and bridges wherever there are walls. We will continue to build new hospitals, new factories, new ventilators, and more jobs. That is America. We are a nation of teachers, architects, artists, doctors, engineers, visionaries — and BUILDERS. I truly believe that if smokestack factories are given the right incentives to to re-open and hum again across the Midwest — the American heartland — this country will become an unstoppable train of true GREATNESS. Yet most importantly, do not forget the farmers. Get them protected so the food won’t get infected. Without cereal and oats, nobody will build. For so long, we have neglected those who feed, teach, build, and protect the country. Let’s remember that without them, we would be an elaborate zoo and nothing more. Graciousness is our ticket to real Greatness. God bless America. — Suzy Kassem
