Graciousness Makes One Wiser and Richer Over Others

THE GRACIOUS HEART

We have been mentally conditioned to worship people with things we do not own,
With lifestyles we perceive to be worthier of living than our own,
With lovely homes we are deceived to believe are warmer than our own,
And with faces we believe to be prettier than our own.
My friends, the lot you are given in this lifetime is the same as the dog with a bone;
For only those with gracious hearts can see that a loved dog is free to roam,
And he is given a home without having to do work, but to love and be loved —
And only wait for his master to come home.
Yet man sees the dog as a slave, and the slave with a master,
And believes wealth has no limits and lust is worth chasing after,
So he slaves in his work to buy a large car worthy of envy --
And chooses his friends based on what they have instead of
Who is truly friendly.
But the simple man who sits alone,
Alone in his small home
With the dog with a bone
And a book filled with poems —
Is much better in God’s eyes
Than the man with so many friends
But cries alone in his Bentley.
