The Universal Golden Rule


THE GOLDEN RULE IS THE SAME IN ALL RELIGIONS

If you do not understand the Golden Rule, which is the most important law in the universe, then you are in trouble. All other rules in your holy books combined -- are not as valuable as the ONE Golden Rule. Take two minutes to learn the most crucial law in life. Killing another human comes with the highest penalty, regardless of how you justify it. All life is sacred.

Christianity
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. (Matthew 7:1)

Confucianism
Do not do to others what you would not like yourself. Then there will be no resentment against you, either in the family or in the state. (Analects 12:2)

Buddhism
Hurt not others in ways that you yourself would find hurtful.

Hinduism
This is the sum of duty; do naught onto others what you would not have them do unto you. (Mahabharata 5,1517)

Islam
No one of you is a believer until he desires for his brother that which he desires for himself. (Sunnah)

Judaism
What is hateful to you, do not do to your fellowman. This is the entire Law; all the rest is commentary. (Talmud, Shabbat 3id)

Taoism
Regard your neighbor's gain as your gain, and your neighbor's loss as your own loss. (Tai Shang Kan Yin Pien)

Zoroastrianism
That nature alone is good which refrains from doing another whatsoever is not good for itself. (Dadisten-I-dinik, 94,5)

Brahmanism
This is the sum of duty: Do naught unto others which would cause you pain if done to you.

Baha'i Faith
Lay not on any soul a load that you would not wish to be laid upon you, and desire not for anyone the things you would not desire for yourself.

Jainism
One should treat all creatures in the world as one would like to be treated.

Native American Spirituality

Humankind has not woven the web of life. We are but one thread within it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves.

Hurt not others with that which pains yourself.

Sikhism
Don't create enmity with anyone as God is within everyone.
