This last picture is the granite and marble floor of Akhenaten's palace in Armana. This was created BC and look how bold and solid the color still is. It is in better condition than a mural painted outside on the wall of a carryout store in an urban neighborhood. I took this picture through two layers of glass with camera set on museum mode with no flash. To imagine that this belonged to a building buried deep under water and sand for over thousands of years and still vibrant in detail and color is beyond words. That is one thing that blows my mind about many of the tombs in the Valley of the Kings, coffins, and chambers. The colors. So fresh looking. So new. Yet so ancient and unreal.

Photos taken today and yesterday.
